NRFB Corgi Heroes Under Fire Range. Limited Edition of 1,500pc
In Detroit during the early 1960s every first-line piece of fire equipment was a Seagrave. The shops (garages) in Detroit were an extension of the Seagrave test site, as Detroit had been a "house account" for decades. Even early on, when Seagrave went to four-wheel brakes, the user code for the brake design was "D," as in Detroit. With a rich and storied history of fire protection and such a strong connection to Seagrave, it is fitting the two are linked together with this commemorative two-piece set by Corgi. Of note on the Safety Sedan is the soft suction hose - previous models (like Corgi's US50504) carried these atop the right fender, although after 1957 the hose positioning was altered so that it would rest on the pan between the front bumper and the grille. Operating out of the same garage, Ladder 28 and Engine 21 were paired at many a fire, and respected fire apparatus historian Matt Lee recalls many of the innovations and situations the Detroit Fire Department encountered during the 1950s and 1960s in an enclosed eight-page booklet.

*Detroit Commemorative Set includes booklet and two models packed in Detroit Seagrave-specific packaging.
